A good sleep habits are important for the children. But the schedules of busy working parents, extracurricular activities and homework, all cut into family time on school days, and can greatly influence how a child sleeps.
As the time together for so many households with about 6 or 7 or even later in the evening clock starts on a school night, it can be difficult to define an early night. And since experts say children of school age need about ten hours of sleep – that is, they have to go to bed at 8 or 9 hours – which is not much time for anything other than dinner, homework and reading together a short chapter of a book.
But it can be especially important for students to get school in order to get enough sleep. As a child sleeps can have a significant impact on growth and development. Research has shown that sleep deprivation can affect a child’s temperament, behavior, attention and learning ability. Children who have not been getting enough sleep, that cut more poorly on memory and attention tests. And April 2009 study found that sleep disturbances were associated to achieve in the years of primary school with low scores on psychological tests in children adolescents.
